Natural Gas Information
Current Monthly Natural Gas Rate: $0.751 per MmBtu*
*Natural gas rate per MmBtu is gas index for November 2024 as published in the Inside F.E.R.C.’s Gas Market Report plus all applicable pipeline transmission, local distribution, and metering/billing costs.
Industrial Gas Services
Our industrial gas customers are divided into two categories: Tariff Service and Transportation Gas.
Tariff Service customers buy their gas directly from Dalton Utilities. Our rate for tariff service customers is calculated using a “floating index” which reflects the monthly index price for natural gas. A nominal charge is added to this rate to cover transmission and distribution costs incurred by the Utility.
Transportation Gas customers purchase their natural gas from the wellhead or from gas marketers. Dalton Utilities charges these customers a transportation fee only. Transportation Gas service is available to any regular industrial gas customer whose daily requirements are in excess of 200 Mcf per day. In order to take advantage of this service, the customer must maintain a fully operational alternate fuel system capable of supplying 100% of their fuel requirements.

New Gas Safety Device Available: Excess Flow Valve
You can now have a safety device, an Excess Flow Valve, installed in your natural gas service line(s). An Excess Flow Valve goes on the supply end of your gas service line and will automatically shut down most or all flow of gas if your service line breaks.
You may request an Excess Flow Valve be installed in your service line. Upon request, Dalton Utilities will inspect your service line and, if an Excess Flow Valve can be installed, inform you of any cost you will incur before making a final decision. If you decide to move forward, we will schedule your service for installation. After installation is complete, Dalton Utilities will be responsible for all costs associated with maintaining and/or replacing an Excess Flow Valve. Please keep in mind that some service lines cannot have the device installed due to the level of gas flow, low pressure, or other factors. We will inform you if this is the case for your service line.
If you are interested in having an Excess Flow Valve installed in your gas service line or have any questions, please contact us today.
